Although he has his roots in traditional Gascon music, his musical experiences are eclectic since he has played both in the symphony orchestra of the Ensemble Instrumental des Landes and in the group Aliòs (Rock/Trad).

A renowned soloist, he plays and has played in many musical groups and frequently develops artistic projects.

He is also a composer, arranger, and more than twenty albums carry his creations.

The researcher

In parallel with a research on his interpretation, he wanted to develop the technical potential of his bagpipe, adding new drones and new melodic possibilities to the instrument.

The teacher

He is a teacher of music, Landes bagpipes and singing and has taught at the Conservatoire des Landes, he also leads workshops on collective practices.

The programmer

Designer and programmer of the international bagpipes festival Festiv'cornemuses which takes place every summer in Soustons.

And of course the instrument maker.

Since 1976, Yan Cozian has been developing the technique for manufacturing reeds. The reeds are the heart of the instrument, they bring the accuracy and color of the instrument. This is certainly the most technical field of boha instrumental making.

In order to develop his courses, in the 1990s, he developed bohas ratings, inspired by Alain Cadeillan's research.

In parallel, he also developed a new model of caremèra and a musetta for learning.

Many amateur or occasional manufacturers have benefited from his plans and advice.

Since 2006, he has been developing research and manufacturing for others.
